ESSENTIALS Foaming Sunless Tan

Protecting skin from the sun is a must, but that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve a sun-kissed glow the healthy way. The lightweight, oil-free, mess-free sunless tanning foam applies easily and dries quickly. The effective dual-active formula ensures even, natural-looking color without exposure to the harmful UVA and UVB rays. It contains Rodan + Fields’ RF-Dcell technology, which is derived from dormant narcissus bulb extract, to “quench” the rate of cell hyper-proliferation and extend the duration of the sunless tan. Antioxidant vitamins A, C and E protect skin from free radical damage.

Back in 1971, Malibu Barbie was teaching our young daughters that sporting a suntan was groovy. Roll the clock forward to the new millennium and Malibu Barbie comes with her own miniature bottle of sunscreen, SPF 60. She still has a tan, however, which leads us to ask, “where’s the sunless tanner?” Maybe she left it in the Barbie Dream Car.

“Sunscreen manufactures determine SPF in a laboratory setting. Subjects put on a certain amount of sunscreen per centimeter of skin and are then exposed to a solar simulator (a lamp that creates UV radiation similar to sunlight). The amount of sunscreen applied for this test is quite heavy, far more than most people ever use at the beach.

The reality is that an SPF 80 can act like an SPF 3 if you only apply a think layer. Therefore, we urge patients to layer their sunscreen. Apply your sunscreen thirty minutes before exposing yourself to the sun. Let it dry down for at lease fifteen minutes and then reapply another coat just before your tennis match, mountain hike, or other outdoor activity. That way, you’ll have a fighting chance of achieving the full SPF rating and maximizing the potential UVA protection of your product”.DermRf

“Many factors determine how your skin ages, and skin type doesn’t really play a role. Women with dry skin can achieve the same level of hydration as those with oily skin through application of moisturizers. And oily skin actually has some negatives as it ages. Oil glands may enlarge, resulting in big pores and pink/yellow growths called sebaceous hyperplasia.”DermRF

“Although one blistering burn when you are young can double your chances of developing skin cancer as an adult, sun damage is cumulative throughout your life. By age eighteen, you’ve acquired only 23% of your lifetime dose of UVA. Therefore, most of the damage has not been done. So, no excuses Always protect yourself from harmful UV radiation.”DermRF

“The outside humidity, not how much water you consume, determines how dry you are. Contrary to a popular myth perpetuated by bottled water companies, downing excessive fluids is not the best way to keep skin from drying out. In fact, by over-hydrating, you will flush essential vitamins and electrolytes out of your bloodstream. You need only ninety-one ounces of fluids a day, which you can easily obtain from both food and beverages. Trust your body’s natural signal: thirst. Only serve dehydration will cause your skin to dry out.”DermRF

  • Avoid long, hot showers: they actually draw moisture out of your skin and make you itchy. Instead, go for tepid, quick showes. Apply a heavy moisturizer regularly after bathing or showering while skin is still damp o seal in extra moisture.
  • If you soak in a warm bath, we recommend using bath oil.
  • Use a loofah sponge or a body micro=dermabrasion product regularly with warm water to boost circulation and remove dead skin cells.
  • Use products containing humectants such as sodium hyalurante, glycolic acid, and glycerin to attract water to skin and hold onto moisture.
  • Keep humidity in your home at about 50% or use a humidifier.
